Sebastian Phillips brings decades of maritime expertise to waterfront hospitality. Raised in New York’s Lower East Side within a boat-building family, he developed his passion for naval architecture working aboard commercial vessels in New York Harbor.
With formal training in naval architecture and ship design, Phillips founded a successful consulting firm serving global clients including the U.S. Navy and major commercial operators. He previously transformed waterfront spaces with Riverside on Miami’s historic river.
The Vessel Miami represents Phillips’ return to his maritime roots—a floating venue that unites his experience in sailboats, passenger vessels, and naval operations into an innovative hospitality concept.

The Weather Deck
Spanning 2,700 sq ft (77’ × 38’), the Weather Deck serves as the heart of The Vessel—an expansive, open-air platform ideal for both staging and receptions. Equipped with air-conditioned men’s and women’s bathrooms, this deck ensures guest comfort in any climate.
The flexible layout, featuring luxurious sectional lounge furniture, allows for custom floor plans tailored to the mood of any event, whether you’re planning a chic cocktail hour or a formal ceremony. Plus, with dedicated port and starboard gangways, boat docking and guest embarkation run smoothly and stylishly.
The Sail Deck
At 2,000 sq ft (71’ × 28’), the Sail Deck dazzles with architectural flair and thoughtful function. Its most striking feature is the elegant shade sails, a design element that blends form and function, offering both sun protection and visual drama. Centrally, a 360° full-service bar, including a forward double-sided bar and refrigerated storage, makes serving effortless, while a service stair connects seamlessly to the Weather Deck. Additional amenities like a VIP seating area or a green room add exclusivity, and sectional lounge setups ensure flexibility to fit any event layout.
The Top Deck
Perched above it all at 450 sq ft, the Top Deck offers a spacious DJ booth, which channels the pulse of the party while offering commanding coastal views. It also includes the pilothouse, lending an authentic nautical character, and a dedicated crew bathroom for operational comfort. Whether as a dynamic music platform or a distinctive VIP vantage point, the Top Deck delivers atmosphere and functionality in equal measure.
